Finally I’m having an acceptable performance using Stage3D to create an augmented reality scene, using AIR 3.9 beta, Away3D 4.1.4, Starling 1.4, Christoph Ketzler’s Euler Gyroscope ANE, and Michael Trenkler’s Starling WebcamVideo Extension.
Due to nature of Stage3D, using a realtime camera is really expensive, at this moment I’m getting consistent 30FPS and its very responsive. I asked to @BillAtAdobe about the “transparent Stage3D” considering that will be more optimal to attach a Camera to StageVideo instead of crush the GPU, and he answered: “no current plans, but it’s on our backlog. if we can get there, I’ll put it in the roadmap.”
so, we will have a transparent Stage3D soon (Stage3D 2?). Your feedback will be appreciated, cheers people :)
